BIBLE STUDY GROUPS FOR ADULTS

We offer three distinct Sunday morning Bible study groups for adults. Each group provides you with an opportunity to study the Word of God, discuss how the Word of God changes our lives, pray together, and fellowship. Each group studies a particular topic, and includes people of all different ages and walks of life in it. These groups all meet in the gym building (the building to right as you look at the front of the campus). The current groups are:

MATTHEW'S GOSPEL
  /  Gym building - Room 1
Teachers:  Jeff Moody and Tom Haberkorn

As we look at the world around us, we see a need for care from a hurting world, and we often struggle with our roles as Christians within this world. One of the major problems both inside and outside the church is the lack of ability or desire to care for and love people well, especially those that are different than us. The Scriptures often reveal how our outward treatment of people indicates our inward distance from God and His kingdom. Jesus addresses these heart issues over and over in the Gospels, and we are looking at how Christ calls us to a greater kingdom in the Gospel of Matthew. Come join us to discuss how we can apply these truths in light of the Gospel as we look for God to grow our love for him in our hearts so much that it overflows in our love for others.  We work through these ideas together as sinful people in need of a Savior. We often say of our group, β€œIt’s okay to not be okay here.”  We all recognize our individual and collective struggles with sin, and we hope that by shining the light of truth into these dark places, the Lord will lead us to a closer walk with him and with each other.

THE GOSPEL OF JOHN  Gym building - Gymnasium
Teachers:  Greg Teal, Rick Steen, and Brad Pogue

The Gospel of John is unique among the four gospels.  In this book, John gives us his primary purpose in writing this gospel in John 20:31 where he writes, "but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name."  John then goes to work in proving that Jesus is God in the flesh providing vivid depictions of His humanity and His deity.  He also explores what it means to "believe," showing us the reality of saving faith.  We warmly invite you to join us for a verse-by-verse study of John as we journey through this life-giving Gospel!

SET MY HEART ABLAZE  / Gym building - Room 3
Teacher:  William Foxx & Ron Burke

Many of us are familiar with the lyrics of the old hymn which says, "O soul are you weary and troubled, no light in the darkness you see. There's light for a look at the Savior, and life more abundant and free. Turn your eyes upon Jesus.  Look full in his wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim In the light of His glory and grace.”   We will discuss together the devotional book, Set My Heart Ablaze, which is a collection of excerpts from the writings of A. W. Tozer.  This study is designed to direct our hearts to do just as the song suggests, to look full into the face of Jesus. We invite you to come join us as we seek to deepen our understanding of what that produces in us, and how effective it makes us in showing Him to the world around us.
