REFLECTIONS ON "DAY AFTER DAY JESUS REIGNS"

The song Day After Day has been a huge blessing to me ever since I first heard it.  I am grateful for songs like this that draw us in with deep truths on which to reflect.  I also am grateful for songs like this with simple, clear lyrics that make those truths easy to sing not only with our mouths, but also with our minds.

This song has been a daily reminder to me of how the Lord saves and keeps us, His sheep.  I love how R.C. Sproul reworded the expression "the perseverance of the saints" to "the preservation of the saints."  God preserves us and keeps us.  It is such a comforting truth because I know how prone my heart is to wander every day, and yet my Shepherd is always close and ready to redirect me back to Himself.  If we are in Christ, we do not have to pray and ask Him to be with us.  Rather, we need to ask Him to remind us that He always is with us.

John 10:27-29 says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.  I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.  My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand."
