Gateway Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist Church that ascribes to the Baptist Faith and Message (2000) of the Southern Baptist Convention.  We encourage you to read the statement of faith, but the life of a church is not always reflected best through a statement of faith that someone else wrote.  At Gateway, we seek to be Christ-focused in all we do.  We want Jesus to be the center of our community.  As we fix our eyes on Jesus, we believe we will honor God and grow in Him. We also believe:

  • The Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God.  It was given to us by God through human authors for instruction, correction, and revelation as to who God is and what His salvation plan is.
  • Man was born in sin and rebellion against God.  We cannot save ourselves, but we need a savior.  Jesus, God’s Son, is our Savior and He came to forgive us of our sins and reconcile us back to God.  We must place our faith in Him and receive His salvation by grace alone.
  • We are called to live holy lives before the Lord, submitting our entire lives to Him and obeying Him in all that He has commanded.
  • God is glorified through healthy marriages and families that are rooted in the foundation of Christ and His Word.  We believe that the primary place for Christian discipleship is to be in the home and that husbands and wives should model the relationship between Christ and the Church, His bride (Ephesians 5:22-32).
  • Every Christian should be connected relationally to other believers in a local church and in small groups for discipleship and Christian growth.
  • Every Christian should live as sent people, expressing the truth about God in every area of our lives wherever God might send us.
  • The church should be the primary place where people come together and where racial, economic, and social distinctions fall away.  We believe that the church should reflect its community and be a witness to its community of the reconciling love of God.
  • The church should have both a local and global witness and that God’s will is that we should live open and giving lives everywhere we go.  Every Christian is an ambassador of Christ and a carrier of the gospel of Jesus and we should all seek to make Him known to all people.
  • We should give sacrificially to the work of the Kingdom and take part in blessing others through the work of the local church, through ministries, and through indvidual endeavors.
  • We believe that one day, Christ will return and establish His Kingdom fully in the New Heavens and the New Earth where everything will be renewed.  Until then, we are to live in eager anticipation of His return and seek to bring redemption and reconciliation to all people and to all facets of life, reflecting His final intent for creation.  We believe that the Kingdom of God has come in Christ, but it is not yet fully realized.  Still, we live under His reign and rule and reflect that now in a world that is broken but will one day be healed.
